You are thinking way ahead. You have to write it and get it published first. In answer to your question, if you get it published traditionally, it would look great on a resume. If you self publish it, it wouldn't make a bit of difference. Anybody can self publish anything they want as long as the check clears. I could self publish the Chinatown Phone Book but it wouldn't make me an author. Self publishing doesn't count as writing credits. Yes, it would look really good. It's hard to get publisher's to look at your work (hard, but nowhere near impossible) at your age, but once you do, if it's any good at all you'll see quick results, and once you get one book published, if you continue writing it will be much easier to get the next one's published. And don't let anyone talk you out of it in any way, especially by using your age as a reason. Not to sound like a parent, as I'm only 15 myself, but teen years are really hard and usually depressing, moreso if you don't have a goal. Having your books will give you a distraction, a goal, and make your college years much easier. So yes, it will look very good on a college transcript, and make things easier for you. ya it would look great for college and it would open so many doors but becareful it could open a huge door that you may not want to open yet. i am not saying not to write and publish a book thats a great idea but youll be expected to write more if the book is good. but anyway it would look great for college if you publish a book at the age of 14 ( ps im 14 also i only know this because my sister is in college and taken a class about publishing books )
